ARROWHEAD!! We love this one!! ARROWHEAD is the 2024 Summer Type Conference Champion & $27,000 Top Selling Hampshire Boar that we purchased from Savage Genetics!! We first saw this boar the night before the show and it was love at first sight. Not only did he have the traits necessary to be named Champion in 2024, he combined those “current” traits combined perfectly with, “old school” Hampshire traits that we believe can be crucial pieces going forward with the progress of the breed!

As ARROWHEAD drives at you he leaves a memorable first impression, with a big chest, stout skull, and a generating kind of look to his eye and ear set. As he turns to the side, he is very attractive with incredible proportions and lines. As he drives away, he represents true squareness from the top of his hip all the way to the ground with a giant hind leg that plants and drives with comfort. Where we think ARROWHEAD takes it to another level is how bold he is in his heart and fore-rib shape, as well as the dimension between his transition points behind his blade hooking into his loin. He stands on big legs with a very flat, immature bone that we believe indicates true stoutness and “breeding hog” features. We think ARROWHEAD is a big-time Hampshire boar!!!

ARROWHEAD comes from Savage Genetics, a firm that is absolutely blazing a trail in the Hampshire breed, both from a show ring perspective, but also with their boars and females in a breeding stock setting. They have identified key herdsires and sow families that not only possess the phenotypic traits they are after, but tie into some different genetic lines (whether it be via frozen semen or modern outcrosses) and blend that to make breed progress for generations to come!

That is very evident when studying ARROWHEAD’S pedigree! ARROWHEAD is sired by Eatin’ Crow, a (Tripod x Marvel x Grand Entrance) son that Savage Genetics purchased from AJ Lewis.

ARROWHEAD's dam is a Sweet Lookin’ sow that derived from the use of frozen Sweet Look semen! That adds up to a pedigree loaded with the goods from both the current dominating lines as well as a blast from the past for fresh air.
